Prayer From the Great Cloud of Witnesses
Here you will find one of the great prayers of the past and the
present. The deep streams of the Christian Faith bring forth
prayers from Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox traditions.
There will be a prayer from such people Julian of Norwich, Chuck
Swindoll, Augustine of Hippo, and a modern Christian from the
southern Sudan. Many have memorized these beautiful expressions of
faith. These prayers will be rotated on a regular
basis. Check back here often!
Grant me, O Lord, the lamp of love which never grows dim, that
it may shine in me and warm my heart, and give light to others
through my love for them, and by its brightness we may have a
vision of the Holy City where the true and inextinguishable light
shines, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
[Columbanus (550-615) was one of the great
Irish missionaries. He established Celtic Monasteries
throughout Gaul (France and Belgium) and then went on to Northern
Italy to preach and teach until his death.]
